On Wednesday, a federal grand jury in Manhattan indicted two former computer programmers–Jerome O’Hara, 47, and George Perez, 44—who worked for Bernard Madoff’s firm.
In a written statement, the U.S. attorney said, “O’Hara and Perez are alleged to have known that the special programs they developed contained fraudulent information and that they were used in connection with the S.E.C. and European accounting firm reviews” of Madoff’s business.
The men are charged with conspiracy and falsifying records of a broker-dealer and of an investment adviser and could be sentenced for up to 30 years.
