In the seemingly never-ending argument between Adobe and Apple over Flash, Adobe has responded to Steve Jobs’ critical open letter with a much gentler ad campaign. The ads boldly proclaim, “We ? Apple” followed by text that explains they also love creativity, innovation, “our three million developers,” HTML 5, and a lot of other things. Then comes the sticking point: “What we don’t love is anybody taking away your freedom to choose what you create, how you create it, and what you experience on the web.”
The campaign also includes a Web site with a “Truth about Flash” page which pointedly states, “In the end, we believe the question is really this: Who controls the World Wide Web? And we believe the answer is: nobody–and everybody, but certainly not a single company.”
