The latest version of the development framework will merge Rails with Merb in an effort to improve performance. The update will also feature a new router focused on RESTful declarations, an Action Rails 3.0 API, an Active Record chainable query language and JavaScript helpers.

Currently, the latest Rails release is version 2.3.8.
