When he worked at Facebook, Adam D’Angelo had a firsthand look at how the company’s choice of PHP affected their business. “Facebook is stuck on [PHP] for legacy reasons, not because it’s the best choice right now,” says D’Angelo. “Our main takeaway from that experience is that programming language choice is very important and is extremely costly to change.”
Based on that experience and on his desire to use an open-source language, D’Angelo chose Python for his new start-up Quora.
