While the global mobile app market was worth around $1.7 billion in 2010, Forrester Research predicts it will grow to more than $38 billion in the next five years. The “explosion of app development that started on the iPhone only scratches the surface of what’s about to emerge,” says the company’s report.
Currently, Apple is the market leader with 350,000 downloads, but that could change as a number of new devices are slated to hit the market in the coming year.
