Nokia Sells Qt Licensing and Servicing Business

The fate of Nokia’s Qt development platform has been uncertain since the company announced that it would be selling smartphones that use the Windows Phone 7 operating system. Now the company is announcing that it is selling off the licensing and servicing portion of its Qt business to Finnish software house Digia for an undisclosed sum.

Despite the sale, Nokia’s Sebastian Nyström said, “We want to emphasize our long-term commitment to Qt.”

Nokia acquired Qt when it purchased Trolltech for $153 million in 2008.
