Although most apps will be faster on the iPad 2 than on the original iPad simply because of the new device’s dual-core processor, Apple is encouraging developers to take other steps to improve their apps for the new tablet. At the iOS Dev Center, the company noted that tools like the OpenGL Profiler can help developers tune their apps for better performance. In addition, Apple encourages developers to take advantage of new iPad features like the dual cameras and gyroscope/accelerometer combo.
The article notes that it’s likely that many of the improvements in the iPad 2 will also appear in the forthcoming iPhone 5.
