Google Swiffy Turns Flash into HTML5

One point of distinction between Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android has been that Android supports Adobe’s Flash technology, while iOS doesn’t. However, Google may be backing away from its support of Flash with a new tool called Swiffy that converts Flash files into HTML5.

“You can upload a SWF file, and Swiffy will produce an HTML5 version which will run in modern browsers with a high level of SVG support such as Chrome and Safari,” explained Google product manager Marcel Gordon. “It’s still an early version, so it won’t convert all Flash content, but it already works well on ads and animations.”

Adobe offers a similar tool called Wallaby.
