iOS App Downloads and Average Sales Prices Increase

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has issued a new report with good news for mobile developers. He claims that the average Apple device owner will download 83 apps this year, a 61 percent increase over the previous year. In addition, he says that the average selling price for paid apps has increased to $1.48 from last year’s $1.29. iPad apps bring in even more — the top 30 paid apps average $6.32.

In all, Munster estimates that mobile developers will make $3 billion off apps in the App Store this year, while Apple will make $1.2 billion. Next year, he believes that total App Store revenue for Apple and developers together will hit $7.7 billion.
