Developers have had their hands on the Mango update to Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system for a couple of months, and soon end users will be able to access the new features too. In a tweet, Microsoft’s Brand Watson announced, “Boom? no more rumors. Mango to start rolling out on Windows Phone in just a week or two.” Nokia, which has a strategic partnership with Microsoft, will begin selling phones with the new OS near the end of October.
So far, Windows Phone 7 hasn’t been a big hit with end users — only 1.2 percent of smartphones run the Microsoft operating system. But Microsoft hopes the new features in the Mango update will help to change that.
