Intel AppUp Wants to Grow to 6 Million Users in 1 Year

At a recent developer event, Intel’s Peter Biddle, general manager for the AppUp app store, admitted, “I think we sucked at getting consumer visits.” So far, Intel’s new app store has only managed to attract 350,000 users who have downloaded 810,000 apps. However, Biddle hopes that within one year AppUp will have “six million engaged users — and if not, maybe Intel should just fire me.”

Intel’s plan is to have AppUp preinstalled on ultrabooks, a new type of laptop that it hopes will take off in the near future.
