According to a new TechNet report titled “Where the Jobs Are,” the “app economy” has created 466,000 jobs in the U.S. in the last five years. In addition to mobile development positions, the rise of apps has also created marketing, management and infrastructure-related positions at a wide variety of companies. Those jobs are spread throughout the country, with a high percentage in New York and California.
“America’s App Economy – which had zero jobs just 5 years ago before the iPhone was introduced – demonstrates that we can quickly create economic value and jobs through cutting-edge innovation,” said TechNet President and CEO Rey Ramsey. “Today, the App Economy is creating jobs in every part of America, employing hundreds of thousands of U.S. workers today and even more in the years to come.”
