Study: iOS Beats Android for HTML5 Performance

Mobile development tool vendor Spaceport.io has released the results of benchmark testing that compared the performance of various mobile devices when handling HTML5. The test measured how many images the smartphones and tablets could translate while maintaining a frame rate of at least 30 fps. The iPad came out on top with 327 images, followed by the iPhone 4S (252 images), the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (147 images), the Samsung Galaxy Tab (65), the iPhone 3GS (53 images) and the Kindle Fire (25 images).

Spaceport.io founder, Ben Savage noted, “HTML 5 is getting faster over time, as seen in the latest OS updates across Android and iOS. Although this is a welcome trend, there is still a long way to go.”
