You’ve heard of software as a service, platform as a service and infrastructure as a service — now there’s open source license management as a service. WhiteSource Software is debuting a beta version of its cloud-based application for tracking open source code. It’s aimed at helping development teams track which of their projects use open source libraries, what the license requirements for those libraries are, which updates are available and which updates have been applied.
“We focus on the area between the Excel sheet and complex scanners,” said WhiteSource founder and CEO Rami Sass. He added that customers can get up and running with the new cloud computing service in just five to ten minutes.
