Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that AppStream is now available to any developer who wants to use it. The service had been in a limited preview since it was announced last fall.
AppStream allows developers to run and render their apps on Amazon’s cloud computing service and then stream those apps very quickly to mobile devices. The AWS blog explains, “You can now use AppStream to build complex applications that run from simple devices, unconstrained by the compute power, storage, or graphical rendering capabilities of the device.” In other words, it allows cheaper smartphones without advanced components to run the same advanced mobile apps that run on top-of-the-line devices.
Currently, AppStream supports Android, Fire OS, iOS, Mac OS and Windows.
