The Apache Foundation has officially released version 4.2 of the CloudStack open source cloud computing platform. The release offers a number of improvements, such as zone-wide primary storage, which will “make it easier for operators to manage storage capacity separately from compute capacity within their zones,” said project vice president Chip Childers.
CloudStack 4.2 also adds enhanced bare-metal support, “Regions” for improved scalability and preliminary support for IPv6.
Developers are already working on version 4.3, which will have a new user interface and improved VM snapshot abilities.
