Eclipse Adds More Machine-to-Machine Projects

By some estimates, machine-to-machine (M2M) interactions are one of the fastest growing areas of technology. These types of interactions are a key part of the coming “Internet of Things,” a network of smart appliances and other devices that communicate with each other independent of humans.

However, M2M software development is currently hindered by a lack of standards. The Eclipse Foundation is hoping to change that by adding four new open source projects to its M2M Working Group. They include the following:

  • Ponte
  • Eclipse SCADA
  • Concierge
  • Kura

More information about each is available from Eclipse.org.
