EMC Buys Cloud Management Vendor Virtustream

EMC has purchased a cloud management company called Virtustream for $1.2 billion. It says it will incorporate Virtustream into its cloud managed services unit.

EMC has recently been on a cloud computing purchasing binge. Last fall it bought three cloud-related companies: Spanning, Maginatics and CloudScaling.

The Virtustream purchase gives EMC expertise in helping enterprises move and manage large applications like SAP in a cloud computing environment. Virtustream’s client list includes Coca-Cola, Heinz, Hess and Kawasaki.
