At the Google Cloud Platform Live event, Urs Hölzle, senior vice president of technical infrastructure at Google, announced that the company will reduce its fees for cloud computing services by up to 85 percent. In addition, customers who consistently use the same level of computing power over a month will see automatic rate reductions up to 53 percent.
In the future, Google’s cloud prices will “follow Moore’s Law,” said Hölzle. He promised, “This isn’t a one-time step. This is a philosophy.”
Hölzle added, “While we already have a strong platform, these are the early days. We see a clear path to making developers phenomenally more productive.”
