HP to Launch SDN App Store Oct. 1

HP has confirmed that its promised software-defined networking (SDN) app store will launch on October 1. Initially, the store will have just eight apps, including two developed by HP, but the company expects that number to grow. “We expect adoption to really explode over the next year,” said HP’s Jacob Rapp.

According to analysts at IDC, the market for SDN apps could be worth $1.1 billion by 2017. HP says that developers have downloaded its SDN SDK more than 5,000 times.

The HP SDN App Store will be on display at the Interop 2014 event that begins September 29.
