IBM has announced that it has purchased UrbanCode, which makes tools that facilitate DevOps practices, for an undisclosed sum. UrbanCode’s primary product is application release automation (ARA) software, which simplifies the process of pushing out applications and updates to end users.
IBM plans to incorporate UrbanCode’s ARA technology into its Rational line of application development tools, as well as into its Worklight mobile development tools. In addition, the company will add the UrbanCode software to its SmartCloud cloud computing services.
