Mashape has open-sourced a key component of its increasingly popular API management platform. According to the company, Kong is a “drop-in replacement for expensive proprietary API management systems,” and it is now available through GitHub or GetKong.org. Kong can run on nearly any platform, in cloud computing or traditional environments. It provides a centralized management layer for applications that use various microservices and APIs.
In the future, the company plans to expand plug-in support for Kong, and it may eventually offer commercial support.
