Microsoft Buys Cloud Security Vendor Adallom

Microsoft has confirmed reports that it will purchase Adallom, a cloud computing security vendor headquartered in Israel. Industry watchers peg the value of the deal between $250 million and $320 million.

Adallom’s service promises to protect corporate data no matter where it resides. According to a Microsoft blog post, it “delivers a cloud security broker to give customers visibility and control over application access as well as their critical company data stored across cloud services.”

Microsoft plans to use Adallom’s technology in its Retail Management System and its Azure cloud computing service.
