On the second day of its Build 2013 developer conference, Microsoft announced a new partnership with platform as a service (PaaS) provider Engine Yard. Now, those who use Engine Yard’s cloud development services will have the option of utilizing Microsoft Azure for deploying applications.
Microsoft’s Scott Guthrie said the partnership “shows the sort of openness we’re trying to embrace with Windows Azure. We want to be a great platform for everyone.”
Engine Yard’s Bill Platt added, “We bring a lot of open-source background to the table, and it’s a good combination with the more-commercial and the enterprise approach Windows Azure users have had.”
