A new Forrester Research study commissioned by EffectiveUI paints a gloomy picture of enterprise application development. Only 39 percent of business decision makers said their internal development groups can deliver applications on time and under budget. When asked why development teams are struggling, 56 percent blamed ever-changing business and user requirements, and 50 percent said tries to do too much at once.
IT decision makers also expressed dissatisfaction with internal development efforts. Only 20 percent said they were very satisfied with the interfaces on customer-facing Web apps, and only 14 percent were very satisfied with their mobile apps.
