Programmer Unemployment Rate at 1.8%

If you’re a developer, the job market continues to look fairly rosy. For the second quarter, the unemployment rate for the tech industry was 2.1 percent, while unemployment was at 1.8 percent for programmers and 1.3 percent for software developers. By comparison, the national average is 5.5 percent.

The one dark spot in the numbers was the “Web developer” category, where unemployment ticked up from 2.1 percent to 3.1 percent between the first two quarters of the year.

A Dice.com report noted, “Considering the unemployment rate, those with the right combination of skills and experience can certainly have their pick of offers.”
