In its M2M Adoption Barometer Survey, Vodafone reported that worldwide machine-to-machine (M2M) deployments increased 80 percent in the last year. M2M is another term for Internet of Things (IoT). In addition, the report predicts that a majority of American companies will deploy M2M technology by 2016.
Among companies that have already deployed M2M technology, 96 said they experienced a positive return on investment (ROI). The industries with the highest rates of IoT deployment include automotive, consumer electronics, and energy and utilities.
