The market for third-party hosted cloud computing environments will grow significantly in the coming years and reach $69 billion by 2018, says a new report from Technology Business Research (TBR). In 2014, the market value is forecast to top $41 billion.
The report held bad news for some leading cloud computing vendors. “Though they top the leaderboards, IBM, Microsoft and HP ? vendors with broad cloud portfolios ? have lower satisfaction scores than those with more focused portfolios like Cisco,” Cassandra Mooshian, a TBR cloud analyst, said. “Trying to be all things to all people deters customers that want those tailored and specialized solutions; think of Walmart versus a grocery store.”
