According to a new survey from RightScale Research, nearly all businesses—94 percent—are using some form of cloud computing. And 89 percent said they are using at least one public cloud vendor.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) was the most popular vendor by far, used by 54 percent of those surveyed. Among SMBs, Rackspace was second with 12 percent, followed by Google App Engine with 9 percent. Enterprises also used AWS heavily, followed by VMware and Microsoft Azure.
Interestingly, a separate study from Greenpeace claims that Amazon’s cloud is the least environmentally friendly of any vendor.
