The Average Enterprise Has Deployed 3.43 Mobile Apps

The twelfth quarterly Mobility Index Report from Good Technology sheds new light on mobile apps and mobile development in the enterprise. The study found that the average organization has deployed 3.43 mobile apps in addition to email. Sixty-seven percent of organizations who have deployed mobile apps besides email have deployed at least two apps, 21 percent have deployed at least five and 5 percent have deployed at least ten apps.

The report says that custom mobile app development has really taken off in a few industries, particularly energy and utilities, where custom apps now make up 49 percent of those used, up from a negligible amount last quarter. Other industries with strong custom mobile development growth including insurance (32 percent of apps are custom) and financial services (29 percent of apps are custom).
