Visual Studio Adds Cordova Support

At TechEd 2014, Microsoft made a couple of big announcements related to its Visual Studio integrated development environment. First, a preview version of Visual Studio now supports Apache Cordova, an open source set of tools for creating hybrid apps using HTML and JavaScript. The update extends the IDE’s mobile development capabilities, giving developers more options.

Second, the company announced a new set of APIs for integrating third-party services with Visual Studio Online. Initially, eighteen partners are announcing APIs for the development platform.

At the same event, Microsoft made several other announcements related to its development tools, including a new preview of the next version ASP.NET, improvements to its DevOps tools, an OpsHub TFS to Visual Studio Online Migration Utility and new cloud development services for MSDN subscribers.
