At the VMworld 2016 Europe event, the big news was that VMware now supports Kubernetes container management on its Photon platform. “With Kubernetes as a service on top of Photon, the Photon Controller is able to spin up the necessary virtual machines and disks to build a dedicated Kubernetes cluster on demand for the client,” explained Jared Rosoff, chief technologist for cloud native apps at VMware.
At the same event, the company also announced updates for several of its products, including vSphere 6.5, Virtual SAN 6.5, vRealize Automation 7.2, vRealize Log Insight 4.0, vRealize Operations 6.4 and vSphere Virtual Volumes 2.0. Many of the products are adding better support for cloud computing and containerization.
