Woman arrested in Imo for internet fraud murder

A 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, from Uzoagba in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly stabbing her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, to death. The incident occurred following a dispute over the sharing of proceeds from internet fraud. According to the police, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

She revealed that her 31-year-old lover had lured her into internet fraud, commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo. On Sunday, the couple had a heated argument over Kelechi’s failure to give Oluchi a share of the 250 million Rupiah (approximately 40 million Naira) they had fraudulently obtained from a victim in Indonesia. In the heat of the argument, Oluchi claimed she used a kitchen knife to stab Kelechi in the upper part of his body.

To cover up her actions, she wrote a note stating, “You think you can eat my money and go free.

I am coming for your wife and child, including your family,” which she placed on his lifeless body before fleeing the scene.

The suspect also mentioned that she had been living with the victim since 2019 and that they have a child together. The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, stated that the suspect was apprehended following a thorough investigation that proved her involvement in the crime. He added that efforts are being made to recover the alleged 250 million Rupiah for a possible return to the rightful owner.

Okoye announced that the suspect would be arraigned in court after concluding the investigation. “The suspect is currently undergoing an investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will definitely be arraigned in court,” he said. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
