During his presentation at OracleWorld on Sunday, Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison fired a warning shot at Amazon Web Services. “Amazon’s lead is over,” Ellison said. “Amazon’s going to have serious competition.”
Oracle is rolling out several new cloud computing offerings, including “Cloud@Customer,” which will put Oracle’s hardware in customer data centers. But instead of buying the hardware, customers will subscribe, just as they would with Oracle’s other cloud computing services, and Oracle will manage the environment.
At the event, Ellison also unveiled several other cloud computing offerings and talked about the importance of artificial intelligence.
