Understanding the INSTR Function

Understanding the INSTR Function

MySQL is very powerful with a lot of in-built features. Today we are analyzing the INSTR function.

Syntax:

INSTR (String, subString)

Result: Returns the first index of the subString in String. If subString is not part of String, then the result is 0 (zero).

Example:

SELECT INSTR('Archaeologist', 'log');

This results in a value of 8, which implies the index of the ‘log’ present in ‘Archaeologist.’
