According to Fiksu, the average costs mobile development firms paid to acquire a loyal user (one who opens an app three times) dropped by 16 percent (21 cents) in September to reach $1.13. That’s the lowest user acquisition costs have been since May of 2011, when the costs fell to $1.10. The falling expenditures were somewhat surprising, because many expected the costs to increase due to the release of the iPhone 5.
Fiksu also reported that free app downloads increased to 4.07 million per day during the month. The iPhone 5 launch caused a spike in downloads near the end of September.
