Microsoft has announced that it purchased GreenButton, a New Zealand-based company that specializes in cloud-based high performance computing. Microsoft previously made a $1 million investment in the smaller firm.
GreenButton’s flagship product is Cloud Fabric, a service that makes it easy to scale up to virtually unlimited processing power on the Azure, Amazon or OpenStack cloud computing platforms. Microsoft’s Mike Neil said, “As a result of today’s acquisition, we’ll be working to integrate those solutions with the Microsoft Azure platform, enabling customers to simply and easily solve complex problems, get more from their data and drive their business forward.”
GreenButton is no longer taking on new customers.
