Drop the Parentheses in a VBScript Sub

Beginners are sometimes stymied when they get error messages on code that works perfectly elsewhere. For example, this code produces the error message, “Cannot use parentheses when calling a Sub”:

 Sub Button1_onclick()Recordset1.setParameter(0,Textbox1.value)End Sub

It can be baffling because the Visual InterDev 6 Intellisense shows the syntax with the brackets. However, the trick in this case is to do what the error message says and ignore the Intellisense. Drop the parentheses and write the phrase like this:

 Sub Button1_onclick()Recordset1.setParameter 0,Textbox1.valueEnd Sub
