Allowing Network Usage

Allowing Network Usage

Question:
How do I turn a single pc VB3 application using MS Access2 into an app that’s capable of running on a network?

Answer:
Really, the basic thing you have to do is to make sure you are opening your database for multiple users to get to. Other than that, there isn’t anything special you need to do to put it on a network drive. You do need to think about the cases in which multiple people are trying to update the same data, and what the consequences of the actions would be. Essentially that means using record locking (actually, I believe it’s page locking with Access) so that two or more users can’t be trying to write to the record all at the same time.
