If you really want to learn about database programming, I would firstrecommend obtaining a copy of Access 97, which is included with Office 97Professional Edition. Visual Basic has some basic tools for buildingdatabases; however, Access has all of the tools you need.
As far as learning VB and database programming, you might want to take alook at the Book Reviews section at Ask the VB Pro for recommendations ongood VB books. There are a number of good VB5 books that do cover DBprogramming for beginners.
