Image Change Script

Image Change Script

Question:
I am trying to get an image change script to be downward compatible, but Internet Explorer 3.0 does not recognize MouseOvers. Is there another way to do an image change script? I had heard something about onClick, but I am not familiar with it. Would it work, and if so, how? Thanks.

Answer:
Greg,

Unfortunately, you’re out of luck. IE 3 does not support DHTML in the way IE 4 does. You can try to use an alternate technology like Macromedia’s Flash or mBed’s Interactor. However, this is a sub-optimal solution. The best way to go is to author for version 4 browsers but with a fall-back for those still on version 3 and below–for example, non-changing images.
