Display Phone Data in Mask

Question:

Our phone numbers are stored in SQL 7 database in the format 9999999999. How can I use ASP to display the phone numbers using the mask (999)999-9999?

Answer:

You will have to write your own little routine in ASP to do this:

Function GetPhoneMasked(byval strPhone) If Trim(strPhone) = "" Then ' -- no data GetPhoneMAsked = "" Else ' -- we have data, (assume full data) GetPhoneMasked = "(" & left(strPhone,3) & _ ")" & mid(strPhone,4,3) & "-" & _ mid(strPhone,7) End ifEnd Function

Then, call it from your ASP code:

  Response.write "Phone:" & _ GetPhoneMasked(objRS("PhoneField") & "")
