Orphaned Exchange Accounts

Question:
I have some orphaned Exchange mailboxes that are displayed under Private Information Store/Mailbox Resources. How do I remove them if the object is not defined in the DS?

Answer:

  1. Make sure you have a good and current backup of your Exchange system. I’d get both online and offline backups, personally.
  2. Make sure you have the most recent version of ISINTEG. You can check Microsoft’s site for the latest version if you don’t already have it.
  3. Stop your Exchange services and run ISINTEG with the -PRI -FIX switches to have it check and fix your private information store. I’d also advise using the -L ISINTEG.LOG switch in order to get it to record a log file for your review.

Once that’s done you should be able to restart your Exchange services and fix the orphaned mailboxes.
