Exchange and .PST Files

Question:
How do I import my user’s .PST files directly into Exchange without having to log in as the user and import the files via Outlook?

Answer:
You might be able to use ExMerge in two-step mode to do this. I haven’t tried it, but it could work:

  1. You’ll need to name each .PST file with the directory name of the mailbox in question.
  2. The mailboxes have to exist already—running ExMerge in two-step mode like this won’t create mailboxes that aren’t already there.
  3. You should send an e-mail message to all of the mailboxes before you begin. ExMerge will skip any mailboxes that haven’t been logged into or haven’t received any messages.
