Panasonic today introduced the Performance model of its Toughpad 4K FZ-Y1 large screen business rugged tablet designed to provide engineers, architects and designers with a brilliant and extraordinary viewing experience on a mobile device. With its increased computing power and dedicated graphics and the first Panasonic Toughpad to offer Windows 10 Pro, the FZ-Y1 builds on Panasonic???s pedigree of introducing the first 4K tablet with this latest 20 inch business rugged professional device.

A ready-made solution for CAD designers, engineers and architects, the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 Performance model is already certified by Dassault Syst??mes for use with its market-leading 3D CAD application SOLIDWORKS[*1].
More powerful
The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 Performance is a more powerful version of the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 Standard model announced in July this year. The Performance model has the powerful 5th Generation Intel?? Core??? i7-5600U vPro??? Processor (4 MB cache, 2.6 GHz up to 3.2 GHz with Intel?? Turbo Boost Technology) and dedicated AMD FirePro??? M5100 graphics with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (Optional 512 GB SSD) to handle high end applications.
A3 viewing display
With its 20??? IPS?? multi touch display with up to 10 finger recognition backed by a 4K (3840 X 2560) Ultra HD resolution, 230 ppi and 15:10 aspect ratio, the Toughpad tablet is ideal for viewing and working with A3 size plans and designs. The optional Electronic Touch Pen also offers the ability to draw and make free-hand notes on the device with the freedom and creativity of pen and paper. The pen uses infrared signals to distinctly read every pixel on the screen and communicates it with the tablet via Bluetooth, making it stand apart from commonly found digitizers. It is so accurate because it is able to recognize every individual pixel on the tablet screen, can recognize & record the pen tilt and can interpret 2048 levels of pressure, ensuring engineers/designers handwriting or drawing is reflected perfectly to the smallest detail.
Business connectivity
With its full set of business ports (USB 3.0, gigabit LAN port, HDMI 2.0 INPUT (support HDCP2.2), Mini DisplayPortTM Output and Docking connector) and wireless connectivity (Bluetooth and WLAN), the user will always be connected and able to collaborate whether at their desk or out of the office. The HD Webcam with micro phone also offers an ideal web conferencing experience.
Monitor and review capability
For viewing animations, film rushes, 3D models, plans or images in the ultimate high resolution detail, the Toughpad FZ-Y1 Performance model???s HDMI 2.0 INPUT port enables the device to be turned into a high resolution field monitor for applications such as broadcast and movie shooting.
Tough and flexible
The Windows 10 Pro operating system ensures high performance and security with the option of downgrading to Windows 7 Professional [*2] to make the tablet compatible with a wide range of business IT infrastructures.
The eye-catching silver bezel together with the 4K display panel is mounted on the magnesium frame, which is enclosed in a reinforced glass fiber case to make it a true business rugged tablet. This lightweight device is built to handle a 76cm [*3] fall, helping to avoid downtime and delivering a better total cost of ownership for businesses. The device also comes with Kensington lock compatibility to easily secure it while away from the desk or at an event.
Combined with accessories such as the optional desktop cradle and optional carrying case solution, the device can be used as both a desktop PC and tablet. The cradle easily converts into a tilted stand to allow the tablet to be used in drafting table mode, and offers additional connectivity port options. A VESA-compatible mounting adaptor plate is also available.
