Big Data Developers Say Hadoop Alone Isn’t Enough

The 2014 Big Data & Advanced Analytics Survey from Evans Data finds that the batch processing capabilities of Hadoop aren’t enough to meet developers’ needs. In fact, only 16 percent of those surveyed said that Hadoop was sufficient for all of their projects, while 71 percent said they need real-time processing for some projects.

?Hadoop?s batch-processing model has worked well for several years,? Evans Data CEO Janel Garvin said. ?But the demands and challenges of Big Data in our current world mean real-time event processing is becoming more necessary, which is why Apache Storm and other commercial CEP products are being welcomed into the Big Data landscape.?
