HP Debuts Distributed R for Large-Scale Analytics

The new tool will enable real-time predictive analytics.

Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps

HP has released Distributed R, a new set of tools for running programs written in R on more than one server at a time. Open source R is one of the most popular tools for statistical analysis, but in the past it has only been able to run on one machine at a time. HP's Distributed R, which is also available under an open source license, will allow programs to run on computer clusters and analyze extremely large data sets. That opens the door for using R to do real-time predictive analytics.

HP designed Distributed R to work with its Vertica database; however, the tool can also be used with other databases and Hadoop. It is also compatible with R Studio and other R development tools.
