Question:
When I use onstat -d, the message “No response from server process” pops up. Then I can’t shutdown the database or do any other jobs. I could use dbaccess, but my dbspace is 1GB and doesn’t have any blobspace. What do I do?
Answer:
I’m assuming you’re on a UNIX box, so next time it happens try doing an IPCS command and checking to see if your shared memory segments are still there.
I’d also recommend reinstalling your Informix software. The only time that I’ve seen similar symptoms is when the installation had problems. And consider moving to 7.30 IDS—it’s much more robust. If a reinstall doesn’t solve the problems, call Informix Support.
