Manipulating Border Style on Form Elements

Question:

Is there any way to manipulate the border of a select list? It works fine on all the other existing form elements except the select. The solution must be supported by Internet Explorer 4 and 5.

Answer:

The HTML listbox control does not respond noticeably to DHTML border formatting options such as .borderRightStyle, .borderRightColor, and .borderRightWidth. As a workaround, you can nest the list control inside an HTML table, then modify the options mentioned on the table borders rather than the list control borders. Because the table will surround the list control perfectly, it will appear as if the borders of the list control have been changed, when in fact, the borders of the table have actually been changed.
