James Sunderland returns to the eerie town of Silent Hill in search of his deceased wife, guided by a mysterious letter. The Silent Hill 2 remake, developed by Bloober Team, invites players to revisit this horror classic with enhanced visuals and new content. The game features multiple endings, including the original three and two new ones added by the developers.

To achieve the desired ending, players must make specific choices throughout the game. The “Leave” ending, considered the “good” ending, requires James to show dedication to Mary over Maria. The “Maria” ending, on the other hand, is achieved by prioritizing time with Maria and helping her whenever she is in trouble.

The darkest ending, “In Water,” sees James succumb to his grief and trauma. To unlock this ending, players should avoid excessive healing and inspect the knife in James’s inventory. The “Ritual” ending, unlocked in New Game Plus mode, involves collecting four specific items to attempt to resurrect Mary through an occult ritual.

The game also features two joke endings.

The “Dog” ending requires finding two broken key parts and combining them to open the Observation Room in the Lakeview Hotel.

The “UFO” ending involves specific steps and item collections, adding an element of mystery to the game. New Game Plus mode offers players the opportunity to replay the game with new twists and challenges. To unlock New Game Plus, players must clear the game once on any difficulty setting.

This mode includes new items, options, and secrets, such as a powerful melee weapon and additional key items and documents. Playing in New Game Plus mode also offers the chance to experience five additional endings, three of which are classic endings with attached trophies or achievements. These endings involve discovering four ritual tools from Silent Hill’s cult lore, strategically placed throughout the town.

The remake also introduces two new endings exclusive to this version of the game. The “White Claudia” ending is found via a new safe in Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama, while the “In Water Extension” ending draws upon the original “In Water” ending and requires obtaining the Key of Sorrow and solving a three-digit passcode. With its enhanced visuals, new content, and multiple endings, the Silent Hill 2 remake offers a fresh take on this survival horror classic, providing players with plenty to discover and explore.
